Celebrating Calendars

    Today's internationally accepted civil calendar is the Gregorian Calendar, named for Pope Gregory XIII  who introduced it in 1582. It is based on the Julian Calendar, introduced under the authority of Julius Caesar in 46 BCE. It was designed with 365 days in a year, and 366 days every fourth year.
    2016 is the 4713th year of the Chinese Calendar, and February 4th is the new moon, and Festival of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
