My Friend Rebecca

“The point of love is to make us grow, not to make us immediately happy.” - Marianne Williamson

At the end of August 2013, I was granted an event which can be labeled an Energetic Download; a Peak Experience; or simply a Spiritual Shift.
As the anniversary approaches, I find myself taking an inventory of the learning that has come to me because of that day. Among the many benefits I can list, are my relationship with Rebecca, and the flow of Cosmic love that moves through me to her.
The presence of Rebecca has caused me to change how I am in the world. She has shown me that life-expression, and my ability to channel Source-love are integral to my future. I find my Spirit expanding into places which are newly appeared in my awareness.
Authenticity
Kute Blackson says that 'Real freedom is knowing who you are, diving in to the fullness of this amazing, crazy, wild, juicy life, and living it fully with total awareness: complete awareness and connectivity with your true self. '
Rebecca also teaches about authenticity and self-appreciation, and she is compelling.
How would it feel to wake up one day and be fully and truly the You that you know Yourself to be? Would you dive into life with full awareness?
What would it be like to cast off all the roles and expectations and societal lessons that have been imposed on you every day in this human realm?
What losses and sacrifices do you suppose would be called for if you stepped into your authentic, central soul-identity and move through the world fully realized?
If resisting those losses is keeping you stuck, are you really living, or merely existing?
Alignment
While we are sitting, drinking tea and talking, Rebecca sometimes absentmindedly caresses her arm. She is glorying in the supple feel of her skin, appreciating her body for its softness and curves.
She is profoundly grateful to find herself living in this body, because when she was born she was assigned the label 'male'. Rebecca spent more than four decades knowing that she was not male, and understanding that her safety was at risk if she said so.
Rumi wrote: "What comes, will go. What is found, will be lost again. But what you are is beyond coming and going and beyond description.  You are It."
No matter how much Rebecca disguised herself and hid away her truth, She was It.
Undisguised
Recently she has found safe places where she can move into the world without hiding. She can stand in her truth and finally feel comfortable inside her body, no longer pretending to be something she is not.
When someone looks her in the eye today, she does not bring down an internal shutter to ensure that they do not see through that window to her soul.
Rebecca smiles more these days. She experiments with her wardrobe, enjoying the putting together of outfits, appreciating how they feel and fit. Sometimes she worries that caring about her appearance might suggest to people that she is shallow or superficial. In truth, what she really wants, is to be seen. For the first time in her life, she ready to be seen for the beautiful woman that she is.
She wants to move through the world without interpretation or defence or subterfuge. She is willing to be fully, visibly herself in every encounter and conversation, and she is gradually expanding her presence in increasing portions of her community.
Live the Future
The remarkable Lynn Conway who followed a path similar to Rebecca's, says "If you want to change the future, start living as if you're already there", and that is what Rebecca is boldly doing: moving forward in the knowledge that her path is her own, and that only she can walk it.
Having Rebecca in my life makes me a better person. She takes risks that I can barely comprehend, perhaps she is not fearless, yet she takes them anyway. She inspires me to seek out my own authentic expression and the path that will lead me there. She makes me want to live fully.  She makes my soul grow.
